PROPHECY in religion, can be defined as a divinely inspired revelation, interpretation, prediction, precognition, forecast, clairvoyance, etc. A prophet mediates the relationship or dealings between other people and the divine like a proclaimer of GOD's ultimate Will. According to Miz Mzwakhe Tancredi, there are 9 types of prophets: 1. Born (Before) eg Jeremiah; 2. Yare (Prophet of prophets) eg Moses, David, etc; 3. Called eg Amos the herdsman and sycamore fruit-gatherer plus those in Ephesians 4:11; 4. Dual (Two-fold) eg Samuel the Seer; 5. Silent eg Abraham; 6. Seasonal eg Jonah; 7. Mysterious (Unknown) eg Someone mentioned in Mark 9:38-41; 8. Made eg Elisha who was a farmer; 9. Prophet not born of a woman eg Adam named all animals without anybody telling him what they were called. In the Encyclopedia of Biblical Prophecy, J. Barton Payne states that there are 1,817 prophecies in the Bible, comprising 27 percent of the total content. Joshua, Judges, 1st & 2nd Samuel plus 1st & 2nd Kings are considered Former Prophets [Nevi'im] while Ruth, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, etc have scrolls; Job had writings; Isaiah, Jeremiah, (Lamentations), Ezekiel and Daniel are regarded major prophets; the remaining 12 are labelled minor yet they have significant messages too. Every prophet has his critics (We are all sinners), but the prophecy is what matters...
"If a prophet, or one who foretells by dreams, appears among you and announces to you a sign or wonder, and if the sign or wonder spoken of takes place, and the prophet says, 'Let us follow other gods' (gods you have not known) 'and let us worship them,' you must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer. The LORD your GOD is testing you to find out whether you love HIM with all your heart and with all your soul. It is the LORD your GOD you must follow, and HIM you must revere. Keep HIS commands and obey HIM; serve HIM and hold fast to HIM..." - DEUTERONOMY 13:1-4

If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the LORD does not take place or come true, that is a message the LORD has not spoken. And afterwards, I will pour out MY Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions (Joel 2:28)... Verse 31: The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD...

Deuteronomy 14:22-29 also talks about tithes and explains how a tenth of all that your fields produce each year can be exchanged for silver and taken to the place the LORD your GOD will choose (Verse 25). When Israelites wailed in Numbers 11 that they wanted meat to eat instead of daily manna, GOD drove quail birds from the sea about 90 centimeters deep all around the camp, as far as a day's walk in any direction; GOD was angry and struck them with a severe plague while the meat was still between their teeth. Never complain about the little GOD gives; HE has enough power to kill you with abundance. GOD instructed ravens in 1st Kings 17:2-6 to supply Elijah with food (bread and meat in the morning and evening). HE is not a man that HIS hand is short. JESUS fed 5,000 men by multiplying two fish and five loaves (a boy's lunch). Do you worry about what you will eat or wear? Are you discontent; is it money you want? JESUS allowed HIS future betrayer to handle HIS finances and told another disciple to find tax money in the mouth of a fish, not from marine spirits. Money ain't a thing to the ALMIGHTY JAH...
